Mr. Ferguson: "According to the Biblical texts celibacy is a gift and a choice. To try to force a whole class of people to become celibate is both unbiblical and unchristian.”

Hmmm… Mr. Ferguson, what about "Flee from sexual immorality" don't you understand? What about "Put to death" is not to be understood?

I am not same-sex attracted but I am single. Therefore, according to the scriptures, I am not to engage in sex (because it's outside of marriage).

    Corinthians 6:9-10

9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

    1 Corinthians 6:18

18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.

    Colossians 3:5

5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

Of course, I think it's important to point out:

    1 Peter 4:4

4 They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you.

    And:

    Romans 16:17-18

17 I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.

18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

All scripture I have quoted is from:

    New International Version (NIV)

i was born with a tendency to steal. Every time I feel the temptation I am to restrain my impulses. If not, I might as well be sure that the habit will lead to bolder decisions and will certainly end up in prison. There will be no excuse for me, and no understanding at all for taking my neighbor's property. We all are born with some sinful tendency, which we need to contain. with earnest prayer, we can be overcomers. If not, we are not conquerors…we are conquered foes of ourselves! What a tragedy!
